Some Resolutions this Year

After such a wonderful 2016, I wanted to enter 2017 with a positive mindset with the right intentions and goals. Cue the mind map:

With 2017 in the center of the page, I branched out to several different assets of my life that are important: Family/friends, photography, personal finances, health/fitness, career, etc. From these components, I made specific goals with quantifiable means of tracking them.

For example, within my "photography" section, I want to blog at least twice a month (minimum!) and post on my Instagram account at least once a week. In the "personal finances" branch, I made a goal every week to tuck at least $20 into my savings account. With these goals written down-  not typed!! - I will be more accountable to fulfill my habit change. I already know that I am characteristically very driven, so I do not need to change the core of my personality; however, it is little habits that my future self will thank me for!

My last resolution was a last-minute idea after I saw a post by Facebook's COO Sheryl Sandberg:

Last year, my New Year’s resolution was to write down three moments of joy each day. And while my resolutions usually don’t make it to February, I surprised myself by sticking to this one all year.
— Sheryl Sandberg

I saw this post on the evening of January 1st, and decided to jump on the train. By writing things I am grateful for daily, I hope to appreciate the present more! Especially with big events going on this year, appreciation for the now is vital, even though the future is so near.

What are your New Year's Resolutions? Whatever it is, I hope it brings you joy!
